Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best way to clean my LIP YOGA mat?

  1. Mix up your all natural cleaning solution for your all natural mat.

Mix 1 part vinegar to 20 parts water, stir it up and pour it into a spray bottle. We don't recommend using essential oils or any kind of soaps on the rubber so keep it simple. You can fill the bottle up and keep the solution at hand for regular cleaning.

  1. Spray & Wipe (no dunking please)

Natural rubber has a more open cell structure than other rubber. This means the mat absorbs water. Please don't immerse or soak your natural rubber mat in water. Spray your mat all over with the vinegar/water solution and wipe it down with a soft cloth. You can do this regularly to make sure your mat stays fresh and hygienic.

  1. Dry your mat

Dry your mat away from direct sunlight in a well-ventilated space. Hanging your mat is preferable as air can circulate freely around the surface. Don't use a dryer, it may deepen the smell of rubber and damage the material. If your mat has gotten a little too wet gently press it between 2 towels before air-drying.

Some more tips for looking after your mat:

Storing your mat

Your new yoga mat may start out with 'curly corners'. These will ease off with some time and you will have a beautifully flat mat to practice on. It may help to roll the mat inside out while storing it away. If you have a dedicated space for your yoga practice, keeping it flat on the floor will relax the curl too.

Hanging it in an airy space away from direct sunlight or heat will help with any rubber smell residue.
